Color, color and more color best describes this incredible architectural wonder. Located in the Stags Leap district in Napa off of Silverado Trail, Quixote Winery is a must see for wine lovers, art lovers and those who appreciate unique architecture. Designed by an eccentric Viennese architect and artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, you won’t find any straight lines anywhere and as you can see by the pictures above, the winery is filled with bright vibrant tiles. In addition to having a unique sense of design, the architect also had a unique fashion sense. He was a nudist and worked in the buff the entire time he created the winery! Be forewarned when flipping through the photography book during the tasting as it shows Mr. Hundertwasser au natural.
Quixote brings their unique sense of style to their wines as well. Their flagship wine is their Petite Sirah which is bursting with fruit and creates an excitement on the palate which matches well with the vibrant artistic label. In addition, the winery has been using twist top closures on all of their wines since 2001 as they believe the benefit of not worrying about corked wines far outweighs the loss of the romance of corks.
For those looking for some excitement in their wines as well as the winery, Quixote is the place to be! Make sure to call well in advance as appointments are required and space is limited.
