For those looking for a truly unique experience, this amazing winery is not to be missed! While driving along Hwy 29 in the Northern part of Napa Valley a most captivating sight awaits between St. Helena and Calistoga. An enormous medieval Tuscan style castle built with imported brick from Europe appears complete with a drawbridge, moat, and towers. Castello Di Amorosa Winery is owned by Darlo Sattui (owner of the V. Sattui Winery).
The interior of the castle combines the incredible beauty of Italian Frescos in the Great Hall as well as the eerie torture chamber complete with a Chair of Spikes, Iron Maiden and Rack. In addition, there is a fascinating chamber in which you can whisper and be heard clear across the room! Following the tour, you are taken to one of the underground cellars for the tasting which includes robust Italian style wines both straight out of the barrel as well as the bottle.
It’s not every day you get to experience a wine tasting in a castle, especially a castle in California!
