2010 Lindeman’s Bin 65 Chardonnay

clone_wine_14078_web_2The 2010 Lindeman’s Bin 65 Chardonnay is sourced from various vineyards in Southeastern Australia. This wine has been solid and consistant, but an under the radar wine for several years. A small percentage of the wine is aged  in French and American oak barrels for  6 months, the majority of the Chardonnay is aged in stainless steel tanks. The alcohol content is 13%.

The color is an extremely pale golden yellow. The nose is a flower bouquet, along with apricot and pineapple.  A smooth flavorful Chardonnay, crisp apple, grapefruit, pear upfront. The mid palate adds a slight touch of minerality, creamy butter and a small dose of lemon. There is very good, balanced acidity for an inexpensive wine and the finish is better than what you can expect for a 6 buck wine.

The Lindeman’s Bin 65 Chardonnay is a stealth wine, it is usually stocked with the slacker wines, but is a 12 buck chardonnay selling for $6 (and sometimes less). This is the wine to buy when all the trendy wine shops are closed and only the “other” wine sellers are open. Don’t think badly of Lindeman’s, just because it is sitting on the shelf in the section with the jug wines and the cartoon critter wines, it is a good everyday Chardonnay.

Don’t tell anyone, but there is absolutely no correlation between the cost of wine and the quality of wine.

This is one of our very favorite inexpensive wines. We have been drinking it for years as one of our every day wines, and speaking from that extended experience let me add that this wine is remarkably consistent year after year. We are also fond of the Bin 50 Shiraz for table wine.
