2007 Voga Pinot Grigio – $9
March 11, 2009 by admin
Have you ever seen this bottle of wine before and wondered, what the HELL is that? I passed it by for the last couple of years thinking it was a cheap marketing attempt and wasn’t worth trying. But now here I am, blogging about wine and trying to help all of us find the best cheap wine out there. And so, I bought a bottle.
For everyone who hasn’t tried this wine and is curious to know, there actually is a cork under that black cap. When you remove the cap its just a normal looking bottle of wine. The black cap does screw back on though, relieving the need to plug the cork back in after a pour.
This wine is just OK. Its clean and simple but that’s about it. If you want to look cool at your next party then you could get away with bringing this bottle. No one is going to compliment you on how well the wine tastes but no one is likely to complain it tastes like vinegar either.
The nose and the mouth of the wine were identical. Mostly clean slightly watered down pear and apple juice. No finish. Very simple. One of the reasons they use grapes for wine and not other fruits is because of the layers of tastes and textures the grapes bring to the wine. There are no layers of tastes in this wine, so it is intentionally made to be very light and very simple. I think the winemaker is making this as a wine for non-wine drinkers, this is the Boone’s Farm of Pinot Grigio.

I agree that this wine is just…eh. Not bad for a party for for a cheap white. The Voga Quattro is a better and actually a pretty good deal for the price.
Great site, keep up the good work. We all need value, especially now and as things get even tougher in the next 4 years.
so i live in san francisco fell in love with voga on a recent trip to canada ey
but can not find anyone who carries it locally is it only available online ?
I really liked the wine. It’s not the greatest pinot grigio, but i found it to be enjoyable.
For those who know of a better tasting cheap sparking pinot grigio please share. Thanks.
Rey,
