Aramis Shiraz McLaren Vale 2004
November 5, 2008 by ramsay
The Spectator reviews said this wine would be best after 2008 but I decided to open this wine now and give it a shot and decide if I want to buy more.
Its a great wine but it still too early to drink. The tannins are just too young right now. I think this wine might be better in two years. Even still it was a very complex wine that I enjoyed.
On the nose I smelled sweet blackberry, wet soil and a little oak, but not much. In the mouth I tasted a velvety blackberry that was very smooth and nice. I also picked up a little pepper and oak again.
The finish was a little bitter from the high acidity but had a sweet plum that lasted for a long time. I could taste the sweet plum for 15 seconds or so after I had my sip, very nice.
