Saison Des Vins Syrah L’hiver 2005
October 16, 2008 by ramsay
I’m very excited about this Syrah from California. This is by far the most complex Shiraz/Syrah I’ve had this year under $20.
The nose of this wine was a lot of fun because there were just so many aromas. I got mushroom, tobacco, blackberry, wet soil and a smokey chocolate. Now that is by far the most I have ever smelled in a $16 wine in 2008.
On the taste I got a lot more of the same. It was very rich, full bodied and well balanced. I got more of the tobacco, blackberry but also some beef jerky was in there. The finish was full of that sweet smokey taste with a little cherry.
Really a great Syrah for the price. I would expect a wine like this to go for $50 or more. I plan to buy more of this soon.
