A friend of mine had me over for dinner last night and was very excited about this Cabernet she had for us. We both like the 2005 Cabernet’s from Argentina. 2005 was a great vintage for Argentina and it shows in this wine. I think she paid only $8 for it (on sale) from Whole Foods. I haven’t been able to find it for that cheap online but its still a good value for $12 at cellar.com.
On the nose of this wine I got a little pepper, cedar and cherry wood. It was a very fresh nose and the taste was just a fresh. It is a very smooth Cabernet with the same taste as the aromas and a sharp finish on the tongue. This is still a young wine and its a little sharp. When you combine that with the cedar I’m sure its not going to go well with your next spaghetti dinner but it is still a great wine. If you can find it for under $10 in the grocery store you should jump on it as long as you think you will like it from my tasting notes. If you buy online you will have to pay a little more.
